Prohibited Items Onboard Aircraft

Prohibited Items Onboard Aircraft at ALL Times:


The following items are strictly prohibited:

  1. Explosives, including items containing explosives.
  2. Ammunition and firearms (including toy guns).
  3. Fuel and lighters.
  4. Scuba tanks.
  5. Unidentifiable liquids in unmarked containers.

Electronic Devices That Can Interfere with Navigational and/or Communication Equipment:

The use of the following devices is prohibited onboard at all times:


  1. Wireless mouse.
  2. Bluetooth headsets.
  3. Radio transmitters.
  4. Radio-controlled equipment or toys.
  5. Printers and computer peripheral devices.
  6. Laser pointers.


Exception: Syringes or needles for personal medical use are permitted onboard if the needle guards are intact, accompanied by prescription medication with a printed label identifying the medication name and issuing medical office or pharmacy.

Accepted Items Onboard Aircraft

Electronic Devices Permitted Onboard with Restricted Use:


The following electronic devices are permitted onboard with restricted use:

  1. Personal entertainment devices (MP3 players, iPods, portable games, radio receivers, video cameras).
  2. Satellite receivers (e.g., handheld global positioning systems).
  3. Calculators (without printers).
  4. Laptops (cord mouse and Memory Stick are the only permitted peripheral devices during flight; laptops cannot be stowed in seatback pockets).
  5. Electric shavers.
  6. Wireless handheld devices (Blackberry phones, cellphones, PDAs, etc.).
  7. Electronic cigarettes (or 'e-cigarettes'), provided they remain stowed and unused in carry-on baggage. Passengers may be asked to turn on their electronic device at security checks.


Allowed in Checked Baggage Only:


Certain items are only permitted in checked baggage, including:

  1. Sharp, piercing, or cutting objects such as straight razors, razor blades, scissors with pointed tips, box cutters, hatchets, knives of any length, screwdrivers, saws, drills, darts, skates, tackle boxes, fishing hooks/lures, crossbows and arrows.
  2. Tools like hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and heavy tools.
  3. Sporting goods such as golf clubs, baseball bats, bowling balls, billiard cues, hockey sticks, and ski poles.
